I deleted social media 3 times and kept reinstalling. With this app I just blocked them instead of deleting. 6 weeks later I still haven't opened Instagram once during work hours. The fact that it blocks newly installed apps too means I can't just download a clone app to bypass it. Whoever built this clearly has firsthand experience with the problem lol

I have my board exams coming up and my parents were literally taking my phone every evening. Now I just set the schedule and Instagram goes away from 6pm to 11pm automatically without me doing anything. The app doesn't nag you it just quietly does its job. Also free which is crazy because I've seen apps charging 500rs/month for less features.

App works but setup takes some time. You need to give like 5-6 different permissions and it can feel overwhelming at first especially the accessibility one which Android makes sound scary. Once it's set up though it runs fine in background. Would be nice if there was a simpler setup mode for people who just want basic blocking without all the advanced stuff.

Downloaded this because I kept picking up my phone while helping myself with my homework. Set a 2 hour block every evening and it's been 2 weeks. The kids noticed before I did lol. Docking one star only because I couldn't figure out the VPN option at first, it's a bit technical for non-techy people. But the basic blocking works great without it.

What is FocusFlow: App Blocker & Tasks

FocusFlow is an Android app blocker and productivity tool designed to help you finish important work by enforcing distraction-free focus sessions at the system level (using Android’s Accessibility Service). It blocks selected distracting apps so they stay locked until your session ends.

Why is the Accessibility toggle greyed out and won't let me turn it on?

This is an Android 13+ security feature called "Restricted Settings" — it automatically greys out sensitive toggles for apps installed outside the Google Play Store (via Uptodown, Aptoide, direct APK, etc.). It is not a FocusFlow bug. One-time fix: go to Settings → Apps → FocusFlow → tap the ⋮ three-dot menu in the top-right → tap "Allow restricted settings". The toggle will work immediately after. You only need to do this once per install.

How does FocusFlow enforce blocking (and is it harder to bypass than reminders)?

Unlike apps that rely on reminders, FocusFlow enforces blocks at the system level via Android’s Accessibility Service, making it genuinely difficult to open blocked apps during an active session.

What permissions does FocusFlow need?

The Temptation Log records every blocked-app attempt — app name and timestamp — stored locally on your device, capped at 500 entries. Every Sunday at 08:00, FocusFlow delivers a Weekly Temptation Report notification showing your 7-day blocked-attempt totals by app. No other screen time app offers a temptation log or weekly behavioral report.

Which Android versions and devices does FocusFlow support?

FocusFlow supports Android 8.0 and above on 30+ OEM brands: Samsung (OneUI), Xiaomi (MIUI/HyperOS), Oppo (ColorOS), Realme, Vivo (Funtouch/OriginOS), OnePlus (OxygenOS), Huawei (EMUI/HarmonyOS), Honor, Motorola, Asus (ZenUI/ROG), Nothing OS, Nokia/HMD, Sony Xperia, Meizu (Flyme), Black Shark, Infinix, Tecno, itel, ZTE, Lenovo, TCL, Alcatel, and Wiko

Can I block apps even when I’m not in a focus session?

Yes. FocusFlow includes an Always-On Block List that can block selected apps 24/7, which is useful for apps you want to permanently reduce or eliminate.

Can I set a timed block without starting a full focus session?

Yes. FocusFlow offers a Standalone Timed Block that lets you block any app for a chosen duration, and the block remains active even if you close FocusFlow.

Does FocusFlow support daily time limits for distracting apps?

Yes. With Daily App Allowance, you can give distracting apps a time budget. Once the daily limit is reached, the app is automatically blocked for the rest of the day.

Can FocusFlow automatically start blocking during work or study hours?

Yes. FocusFlow supports Recurring Focus Schedules so app blocking can activate automatically during repeating time windows (for example, study hours, work hours, or evenings).

Does FocusFlow track attempts to open blocked apps and show stats?

Yes. FocusFlow logs focus violations (attempts to open blocked apps) locally on your device. It also provides statistics, streaks, weekly reports, and focus history to help you review patterns and trends.

Does FocusFlow include tasks and planning features?

Yes. FocusFlow includes task management: you can create tasks, assign focus durations, and compare planned time versus actual completed work to build and follow a daily focus plan.

Can FocusFlow block YouTube Shorts without blocking all of YouTube?

Yes. FocusFlow closes the Shorts player within YouTube while leaving the main feed, search, subscriptions, channel pages, and standard video playback fully accessible. Only the short-form vertical video loop is blocked.

Can FocusFlow block specific websites or keywords in a browser?

Yes. FocusFlow's browser keyword and URL blocker works across Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet, and other major Android browsers. It intercepts window-title and URL-bar content to block specific URLs or keywords mid-browsing.

Is there an emergency option if I need access to a blocked app?

Yes. FocusFlow includes an Emergency Override for genuine situations. Each override is logged to help maintain accountability.

How does FocusFlow handle privacy and data collection?

FocusFlow is designed to be privacy-first: no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no cloud sync. Your tasks, focus history, block lists, stats, and settings are stored entirely on your device and are not transmitted.

Does FocusFlow collect or share my data?

No. The local VPN never forwards packets to any external server. The Temptation Log, task data, and all blocking state are stored on-device in Android SharedPreferences and SQLite. FocusFlow transmits zero telemetry, analytics, or personal data to any server.
